Psychiatry Department

Herzog Hospital’s Psychiatric Division cares for patients of all ages suffering from psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, and chronic depression.

The Hospital maintains separate units for men and women, allowing the expansion of its services to provide psychiatric care to patients from the Ultra Orthodox Community as well. The Division’s psychiatrics are working on finding new and innovative medication, and ways to achieve early diagnosis and prevention of psychiatric conditions.

A separate Department for men and women has demonstrated a high level of success treating schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. New effective methods for treating schizophrenia, one of the most puzzling and frightening of personality disorders has been developed at Herzog.

The Psychiatric Division also includes a variety of out patient services, to provide treatment and care to the elderly, adults, youth and children of Greater Jerusalem.

In addition, the division maintains a system of sheltered housing and hostels to help patients to reintegrate in the community, setting to lead a semi-independent life.
