Children's Chronic Respiratory Care Department

Herzog Hospital's 18 bed Children's Chronic Respiratory Care Department cares for children from the age of 3 months to 18 years.

Click here to read the feature article on the department that appeared in the Jerusalem Post. Specially trained Hospital staff provides tender dedicated care for each child. Children provide a very unique problem in this very specialized field. Usually a tragic accident, such as a fall or a traffic accident, causes such severe injuries that the child requires the continued support of a respirator to breathe. Many other cases are the result of congenital defects and genetic diseases. Each child requires a different level of treatment. The staff also provide support to the parents and families. The staff derives great satisfaction from their work, despite the great difficulty, and develop close relationships with the children and their families. This Department is one of the most advanced of its kind in the world. The Children's Respiratory Department was established as a direct result of Herzog Hospital's successes in its Adult Respiratory Department.
