Crisis
Sometimes, following a dramatic change or event in our lives, we may experience a sense of shock or imbalance. The situation is defined as a crisis when our usual methods of problem-solving are not working and all our attempts to resolve the situation using the tools we've used in the past have failed. Crisis may be the result of both external events (such as physical assault, the death of a person close to us, disease or the ending of a relationship) and internal processes we may be going through.
At times like these it is important to remember that a crisis is not a permanent state. There are many effective ways of managing crisis and overcoming it. For additional information regarding crisis, coping and helping others visit Traumaweb’s crisis pages.
