Treatment
With help and support from loved ones, most survivors of trauma recuperate without needing professional help .
However, if symptoms such as repeated thoughts about the trauma ,fears and nightmares continue for more than a few weeks and intensify, or if they cause significant distress that interferes with daily functioning, one should seek professional help immediately. There are several short-term effective treatments available, each suitable to the individual's personality and the unique situation s/he is in.
