Traumatic events can shatter one’s most basic beliefs about trust and safety and leave the trauma survivor in a state of physical alertness. Recent decades have seen tremendous advances in the scientific community’s understanding of the impact of traumatic events on the human psyche. Today we know that most people who undergo traumatic event go through the coping process without developing problems. A sizable minority do get stuck and need professional help. Mission Statement:
The Israel Center for the Treatment of Psychotrauma was founded by experts in the field of traumatic stress to promote the development of services for trauma survivors and to advance the treatment of trauma survivors throughout Israel. Furthermore, the Center aims to function as a national and international resource center for both mental health professionals and the average Israeli in need of information.
We aim to achieve this mission through (1) making valuable information available to trauma survivors and their families and friends, (2) providing brief, focused treatments for trauma survivors, and (3) training professionals throughout the country in the most up-to-date methods for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and other related difficulties.
This site is designed to acquaint you with our Center, as well as provide important information about psychological trauma, typical responses, and treatment.
We offer tips for mental health professionals working with trauma survivors and offer various training opportunities in the most up-to-date treatment methods.
Our many links can help you find your way to other websites containing a vast array of additional information, services, and journal articles.
