Treating the Mentally Ill
Separate Departments for Men’s and Women’s Psychiatry have demonstrated a high level of success treating schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. New effective methods for treating schizophrenia, one of the most puzzling and frightening of personality disorders has been developed at Herzog.
Considerable time and effort is devoted to the rehabilitation of psychiatric patients. The Departments have developed innovative programs for treating psychiatric patients on an out-patient basis and in sheltered workplaces. The Hospital maintains a Halfway House for discharged psychiatric patients who no longer require hospitalization, but need ongoing treatment on an outpatient basis. Many of the residents have obtained jobs and return to the Home each evening.
Interventions are also available for a range of behavior disorders including
